After 2 &1/2 years of fabulous partying, My Party Palace Triad will close it's doors December 23, 2009. Love, hugs and kisses to all of our Triad Princesses, Divas, Moms, and Dads!

The world is round,The place which may, seem like the end,may also be the beginning.

It won't be easy, that much I know.

I'm lucky to have great friends, that make goodbyes so hard. That I don't want to see go.

I will not forget you, friend, you've left a footprint on my heart.

There's a whole new world waiting for me,to begin my brand new start.

You and I will meet again

When we're least expecting it

One day in some far off placeI will recognize your faceI won't say goodbye my friend

For you and I will meet again!

Goodbyes are not forever.

Goodbyes are not the end.

They simply mean I'll miss you,

Until we meet again!

Princess Protection Program Movie Review

Princess Protection Program is Disney's latest movie starring Demi Lavato and Selena Gomez. When a tiny country is invaded by a dictator, a young Princess {Demi} (later known as Rosie) is taken into custody by the Princess Protection Program. She is whisked away to rural Luisiana where she must learn the ins and outs of behaving like a normal American teenager. In the process of adapting to her new life, Rosie gives her new friend and roommate, Carter, a few lessons in how to act like a true princess.

When an evil dictator threatens to take over the kingdom, Princess Rosalinda gets put into the Princess Protection Program. She is taken under the wing of Mason, an agent from the agency, and his daughter, Carter, who works after school at a a nearby lock bait shop . Rosalinda goes undercover as a regular teen named, Rosie with the help of Carter. In turn, Rosalinda helps Carter overcome insecurities with herself and her crush on Donny.

I had the great pleasure of watching this movie with my daughters! I just loved the part of the movie when Demi (Rosie) was embarassed by some very mean girls in front of everyone! She held her head high and said, "I am not a fool and she cannot make me something I am not"! How powerful! What if all girls felt this secure about themselves...oh the choices they would make.

A Princess Party With Gifts for Someone Other than the Princess!

It is always a beautiful thing to see girls giving back! This past weekend, we hosted a Princess Party for Princess Courtnee (center). We did all of the usual fabulous things that we always do: polish nails, dressed up, got our make-up done, put on high heels, and had "tea time"!!! What was different from almost every other party that we host, was that there were no gifts for the birthday girl!! Instead of gifts, each attending princess brought in can goods that were donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. At My Party Palace Triad, we truly believe that we MUST train children to have a heart for those less fortunate! What a way to live out being a TRUE Princess. Remember, a Princess is Royalty and she takes care of her Kingdom!! Way to go Mama Bettye and Princess Courtnee!

It is so fun watching women of all ages enjoy partying at My Party Palace Triad!!!

Good Feelings

Every week, we have the opportunity to make girls "feel good" about themselves. With the economic woes and the definite aura of uncertainty, it is easy to get caught up in your own personal issues. The story below reminds me of why we do what we do at My Party Palace Triad. We conduct parties that encourage and empower the essence of being a girl! Don't get it twisted, the girls have BIG FUN but unlike any other birthday place, all of the party participants are celebrated and told how very special they are! Please read the short story below:

The Taxi
(Author Unknown)

I arrived at the address where someone had requested a taxi. I honked but no one came out. I honked again, nothing. So I walked to the door and knocked. 'Just a minute', answered a frail, elderly voice. I could hear something being dragged across the floor. After a long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie.By her side was a small nylon suitcase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware.'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase to the cab, and then returned to assist the woman. She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness.. 'It's nothing', I told her. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated'.. 'Oh,you're such a good boy', she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me anaddress, and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?''It's not the shortest way,' I answered quickly. 'Oh, I don't mind,' she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice'.

I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening.'I don't have any family left,' she continued. 'The doctor says I don't hav every long.' I quietly reached over and shut off the meter.'What route would you like me to take?' I asked. For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now.

'We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It was a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.'How much do I owe you?' she asked, reaching into her purse. 'Nothing,' I said' You have to make a living,' she answered.'There are other passengers,' I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug.

She held onto me tightly. 'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy,'she said. 'Thank you.' I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life. I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift?

What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away? On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolve around great moments. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one. PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

I sure hope the one thing all girls remember about My Party Palace Triad is how special they felt when they were with us!

Girls have a DREAM!

As our great country celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are reminded of how awesome a dream can be! One man had a dream and world has never been the same!

I know I can remember some of the dreams I had when I was a little girl. I can also remember how life beat me up from time to time and I felt like dreaming was a waste of time! We have such an opportunity to encourage girls, children in general to dream and dream BIG! Imagine themselves doing all sorts of fabulous things, helping others all the while!

A wise man, Jonathan Robbins, Lead Pastor at The Summit Church in Kernersville said: "Dreams determine our desires and desires determine our decisions". WOW! We all know that the decisions that we make shape our lives. If dreams some how ultimately determine our decisions which ultimately determine our lives, how can we NOT encourage our children, our daughters to dream?

At My Party Palace Triad, we encourage girls to dream! We put on a fashion show for the "mommies" and ask each girl what she aspires to be when she grows up! We announce each girl's dream into the universe! I am so thankful to have the opportunity to empower girls and women!
